Assistant Professor Dr. Susan Niessen - Assistant Professor in Psychology at University of Groningen, The Netherlands

Dr. Susan Niessen obtained her PhD in Psychology from the University of Groningen in 2018, doing research on selection in higher education and predicting academic performance. For this research, she received her faculties Science for Society Award and the Abbas Fund Dissertation Award.

She is currently an assistant professor in Psychology (department of Psychometrics and Statistics) at the University of Groningen, where she teaches courses on test theory and talent assessment. She conducts applied research on testing and assessment and aims to encourage evidence-based assessment practices. Her current research focuses on test use and decision-making in assessment procedures, mostly in the context of educational- and organizational selection procedures.

In addition, she serves as an assessor for the Dutch Committee on Test and Testing, is an editorial board member of scientific journals, and regularly contributes to debates about educational assessment in the media.
